Everything ready for the PUMP oceanographic cruise
In the next few days it will begin the oceanographic cruise of the PUMP Project aboard R/V Hesperides. This is a project led by Pablo Sangrà, professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which will focus on the study of Oceanic Vertical Pump in mesoscale eddies.
On its website (http://pump.ulpgc.es/) we can find the aim of this project, which is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain. We can also find the description of the activities carried out during the oceanographic campaign which starts on 31 August.
The project researchers come from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Institute of Marine Science at Vigo (CSIC), the Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada (CICESE) and the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). The Robotics and Computational Oceanography Division (ROC) of the Institute SIANI also collaborates with PUMP.
Project leaders encourage us to continue the development of the campaign via their website blog at http://pump.ulpgc.es/blog.
