IOCAG's researchers Inmaculada Menéndez, José Mangas, Jorge Yepes and associate Inés Galindo involved in the Georrutas Project
Aiming to awaken scientific curiosity in young people, Georrutas is a project promoted by the Canary Islands' Education authorities, the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) and the two Canarian public universities. By combining free internet resources in the classroom with local field trips to observe geological environments firsthand, the program hopes to strengthen active teaching methodologies in primary and high schools. The Canary Islands boast an unparalleled wealth of geodiversity stemming from extensive volcanic activity and teachers of Geography and History together with those of Biology and Geology have begun to form a communication network, facilitating an exchange of experiences and thereby contributing to their personal development.
