Research work halted because of administrative errors
El Día has reported that, owing to bureaucratic failings, research work in the Canary islands studying climate change will be halted for at least 8 months.
Delay in resolving the matters of fuel, ships' crews and supplies for the research vessels belonging to the IEO (The Spanish Institute of Oceanography) means that data, such as temperature and acidification of the ocean as well as the loss of biodiversity, cannot be collected around the Canary Islands possibly until the end of this year.
Comments made by IOCAG director, Alonso Hernández Guerra, together with more details on the situation can be read in El Día here.
