UNESCO International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Since 2015, 11th February has been the day on which the critical role played by women and girls in the world of science and technology has been recognised under the title "International Day of Women and Girls in Science". By celebrating this day, the aim of UNESCO is to highlight how the world of science should be completely accessible to women and girls, enabling them to participate fully in all its areas. UN Data collected between 2014-2016 revealed that less than 30% of researchers worldwide were women and statistics recently displayed on the ULPGC website have shown that only 16,5% women beginning their degrees opt for sciences, although of all students that graduate from this university, a greater number are women.
On this special day, IOCAG sends its warmest regards to women scientists everywhere and to all of its female researchers in particular.
