Melchor González Dávila
Born in Tenerife in July 1961, Dr. González-Dávia studied Chemistry at the University of La Laguna, graduating in 1984 and obtaining his doctoral degree in 1987. He commenced his teaching career in 1984 at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, within the Faculty of Marine Sciences. His research training has been supplemented by research stays at the University of Hamburg (three months) and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami (two years).
In May 2010, he was appointed as a Full Professor in the field of Sciences, specializing in Physical Chemistry. He serves as the director of the QUIMA-ULPGC research group. His research focuses on the two lines pursued by the QUIMA-ULPGC group, namely the study of the carbon dioxide system in oceans, for which he is responsible, and the investigation of physicochemical processes of trace metals in the marine environment.
Research interests
- Carbonate system in ocean time series & repeated sections
- Atmosphere-ocean CO2 exchange
- Kinetic of redox processes in seawater
