Miguel Suárez de Tangil Navarro
Born in Bata (Spanish Guinea), Dr. Suárez-de Tángil Navarro studied Chemical Sciences at the University of La Laguna, completing his studies in 1977. He obtained his Doctorate in Marine Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Las Palmas in 1988. His thesis focused on the IR and Raman spectroscopic study of bioactive substances of marine origin.
In 1979, he began his teaching career at the university, attaining the rank of Associate Professor in March 1992. His research experience centers on the study of natural products of marine origin, with expertise in IR and NMR spectroscopy. Currently, he is engaged in studying the evolution of carbon dioxide in Atlantic waters and research related to the kinetics and chelation with organic compounds of metals such as iron and copper in seawater. He participates as a researcher in several projects on the aforementioned lines. He has published numerous articles relating to the total polyphenol content and antioxidant activities of plant extracts. Additionally, he has published various articles on Theoretical Organic Chemistry.
