Pablo Lucas Máyer Suárez

Pablo Máyer Suárez is a geographer and researcher in the Geography, Environment and Geographic Information Systems group attached to the Institute of Oceanography and Global Change. Graduated in Geography and History (1996), he teaches most of his teaching at the Faculty of Geography and History of the ULPGC. The main lines of research are related to natural risks in the Canary Islands from a space-time perspective, as well as work on applied climatology and climate change.

The work carried out in the first of them has focused mainly on the analysis of risks of climatic origin, with special reference to adverse meteorological episodes that generate flooding processes in urban centers. Studies have also been developed focused on the evaluation of emergency and disaster management systems at the local level, in order to propose more effective management measures. In the field of applied climatology, work has been carried out on climatic characterization of island spaces and analysis of trends in climatic variables in the context of current climate change.

He is currently director of the Geography Department of the ULPGC.
